Here comes the first chapter of the novel đ«¶đ»...do let me know how's the chapter as it's my first time...
Author's POV
Life can be unpredictable sometimes, but sometimes, it can make you so happy that you forget that unpredictableness is still there.
One day, you wake up and realize nobody cares about your struggles in life. They can only judge you and wait for the result. If the result is positive, some will praise you, and some will say you could have done better, but if the result is negative, they will make your life a living hell. If you are a girl life gets more complicated, and guess what life is the same for the self-made billionaire Kaainat Rajvanshi who's also a woman.
Her father Karan Rajvanshi was a very famous businessman and her mother Kaashvi Rajvanshi was a criminal lawyer, now both are retired and enjoying their life to their fullest. Kaainat always wanted a love story like theirs, she always wanted someone to love her the way her father loved her mother, not only love but also respect each other. Kaainat also has an elder brother Yugveer Rajvanshi who's handling her father's business in India.
Kaainat left India and shifted to Spain 6 years ago.
Kaainat used to feel everything too deeply. Love, pain, joy, heartbreakâeach emotion carved its place in her soul like a blade against soft skin. But one day, she woke up and felt nothing.
It wasn't sudden. It was a slow erosion, a quiet fading of who she used to be.
At first, she thought it was survival. She had given too much, and love had turned into a battlefield where she always lost. So, she built wallsâthick, impenetrable. She trained herself to stop reacting, to stop yearning, to stop waiting for someone who was never coming back.
Days blurred into nights, and soon, the silence inside her became comforting. She surrounded herself with distractionsâwork, fleeting company, late nights filled with hollow laughter. People came and went, but no one touched her. No one reached the parts of her heart that used to bleed for love.
She was untouchable now. Unbreakable.
And there she stood at the edge of the glass, the city sprawling beneath her like a living, breathing thing. The skyline stretched endlessly, bathed in the golden glow of streetlights and the occasional flicker of passing cars. From up here, everything looked small. Insignificant.
Much like the past, she had left behind.
The wind howled softly against the windows, but she didn't shiver. She just watchedâsilent, still, detached.
Kaainat's POV
Sometimes I wonder How easy it is to get the world and people in your hand if you have money, the same people who gives you lecture about god when someting that isn't "easy to get" for them, happens in your life ,they just can't take the changes you make. Well someone said "money can't buy happiness",but in todays world if you have money you have happiness...
My thoughts came to a halt when I heard the sound of someone banging on my door loudly
"come in"Â Door opened revealing my secretary and bestfriend from past 7 years Eleanor Hale. She is someone who was there without any complaint and always supported me in my ups and down.
The second the door slammed shut, I knew I was in trouble.
I barely had time to turn around before a thick folder hit my desk with a satisfying thud. Eleanor stood across from me, arms crossed, foot tappingâa clear warning sign.
"You owe me. Big time."
I sighed, already feeling the weight of my mistake. "Eleanor, Iâ"
"Don't." Her voice was sharp, cutting off whatever half-hearted excuse I was about to make. "I had to smooth things over with the investors. Again. Do you know how hard that is when I don't even believe half the excuses I'm giving?"
Yeah. I knew.
She was pissed, rightfully so. I had promised to be there, andâagainâI hadn't been. "I messed up."
Eleanor let out a short, humorless laugh. "No kidding. You promised, Kaainat. And guess who had to fill in? Again. And I'm not even the CEO."
The guilt in my stomach twisted a little tighter. I moved around my desk, but Eleanor didn't budge.
"I know," I said softly. "And I'm sorry."
Her glare didn't soften. "You always say that. And then you do it again."
I exhaled, rubbing the back of my neck. "You're right."
That caught her off guard. She blinked. "Wait, what?"
"You're right," I repeated, offering a small, tired smile. "I rely on you too much, and I take it for granted. I didn't mean to, but that doesn't change the fact that I did."
Eleanor studied me, arms still crossed. She was making me sweat, letting me sit in my guilt just a little longer, only she has the audacity to do that . Then she sighed. "So, what now? Another coffee to make up for it?"
I shook my head, a grin forming despite myself. "Actually, I was thinking dinner. On me. And I promiseâno work talk."
She tapped her fingers against her elbow, pretending to consider it. Then, finally, she sighed dramatically. "Fine. But I'm ordering dessert. The expensive kind."
I chuckled. "Deal."
She picked up her planner, shaking her head. "You're lucky I like you."
I smiled. "I know." And this time, I really meant it.
~~~~~~~~~~
The restaurant buzzed with quiet conversation and the occasional clinking of glasses, but my mind was somewhere elseâhalf-drained from the long workday, half-amused by Eleanor's relentless attempts at matchmaking.
She had been at it all evening, slipping in not-so-subtle glances at attractive men across the room and nudging me every time she found one she deemed "worthy" of my attention. I humored her at first, letting her list out their supposed merits, but after the fifth one, I had stopped responding.
Not that it deterred her.
I swirled the last sip of wine in my glass, watching the deep red liquid catch the dim light. Across from me, Eleanor was scrolling through her phone, probably searching for more candidates to add to her ever-growing list of men I should date.
I sighed, setting my glass down. "Eleanor, if you're about to shove another 'perfect guy' in my face, I swearâ"
"Just look at him!" she interrupted, shoving her phone in my direction. On the screen was some impossibly handsome guy with tousled hair and sharp cheekbones, straight out of a magazine. "He looks like he actually reads. And not just stock reportsâreal books."
I smirked. "That's the bare minimum."
"And yet," Eleanor said, tilting her head, "here you are, single."
Before I could fire back, our waiter appeared with dessert, placing a molten lava cake in front of Eleanor and setting my crÚme brûlée down with a small flourish. The sweet scent of chocolate and caramelized sugar filled the air, immediately pulling my focus away from Eleanor's latest scheme.
"Oh," she breathed, staring at her plate. "Okay, you know what? Maybe men can wait. Because thisâ" she gestured dramatically at the cakeâ "is love."
I chuckled, picking up my spoon and tapping the golden crust of my crÚme brûlée, relishing the satisfying crack. "See? This is why I don't need to date. Food never disappoints."
Eleanor took a bite of her dessert and moaned like she'd just tasted heaven itself. "Fine," she said between mouthfuls, "I'll allow you to be single for one more week. But after that, I'm dragging you to a bar and making you talk to at least three hot guys."
I rolled my eyes, savoring the creamy vanilla custard on my tongue. She wasn't wrongâI had been avoiding the whole idea of dating for a while
now. But tonight, I didn't want to think about that.
Tonight, it was just me, Eleanor, and a dessert that, for once, required no overthinking.
